Winter parking and snow rules in Fairport, NY and Perinton
Winter parking in Fairport, NY and Perinton: the village bans street parking 3 to 7 am and the town 2 to 7 am, November 1 through April 1, plus the snow shoveling rules.
From November 1 through April 1, don't leave your car on the street overnight anywhere in Fairport or Perinton. The village and the town each ban overnight street parking, with different hours, and moving your car off the street by 2 am keeps you clear of both.
The two bans

| Dates | November 1 through April 1 | November 1 through April 1 |
| Where | Village streets | Every public street in the town |

The town ban is Chapter 194-7 of the Town Code; if your car is towed, call Perinton Public Works at the number above to get it back. Neither government says whether the town's 2 am start also applies on village streets, which is why 2 am is the safe time.
During a storm, Perinton also asks you to keep cars off the street at any hour so the plows can get through. Its Highway Department plows 460 lane miles of town, county and state roads in Perinton, all but Interstate 490, and patrols local roads around the clock in winter.
Shoveling and plowing in the village
Keep the snow on your own lot. Don't shovel or plow it onto a neighbor's property, the sidewalk or the street, and tell your plow contractor the same. Village sidewalk plows clear the public sidewalks all winter, so don't block them, and keep the walk in front of your home and mailbox clear for the mail carrier. Clear the snow from any hydrant near you, too.
Where to park overnight in the village
The village's six municipal lots are free. The village doesn't say whether the winter ban covers them, so call Public Works before you leave a car there overnight.
