Trash, recycling and leaf pickup in Fairport, NY and Perinton
Trash day in Fairport, NY by street, Perinton's six permitted haulers, fall leaf pickup in the village and the town, and this fall's holiday shifts.
Who picks up your trash in Fairport depends on which side of the village line you live on. Inside the Village of Fairport, village crews take trash and Waste Management takes recycling on the same day. In the rest of Perinton, you hire a private hauler. Not sure which you are? The village's Am I in Fairport? map settles it.
In the village: your day by street
Your pickup day is set by your side of Main Street and the nearest cross street:
| Where you live | Trash and recycling day |
|---|---|
| West of Main, north of Parce Avenue | Monday |
| West of Main, Parce Avenue to West Church Street | Wednesday |
| West of Main, south of West Church Street | Tuesday |
| East of Main, north of East Church Street | Monday |
| East of Main, south of East Church Street | Thursday |
| Businesses | Friday |
Recycling takes plastics #1 to #7, paper, cans, glass and cardboard cut down and bundled, but not plastic grocery bags. Blue bins are at the Public Works building, 22 Water Street; call 585-421-3119 first. Bulk and yard waste goes out every week through November, in piles no bigger than 4 feet by 4 feet by 8 feet.
In Perinton: pick a hauler
The town doesn't collect household trash. It permits six private haulers: B&N, Casella, Dependable Disposal, Suburban Disposal, Seyrek and Waste Management. Some serve only parts of town, so ask first. Your hauler takes recycling too, usually on your trash day, though some pick it up every other week.
No hauler? Take trash and recycling to the Residential Drop-Off Center at High Acres Landfill. Recycling is free there, and you need a landfill sticker from the Town Clerk's Office at Perinton Town Hall.
What the town does collect is yard debris: every week on your street's day, in reusable containers without lids, under 50 pounds. Find your day on the town's street-by-street schedule.
Leaves this fall
Village: crews pick up leaves from the last week of October through mid-December, or until the first significant snow. Put small piles in containers. Street dates aren't posted; call the Department of Public Works at 585-223-9500.
Perinton: crews vacuum loose piles from Labor Day until the snow comes, and one pass of the town takes about four to six weeks. Rake leaves to the edge of your property, not onto the pavement or behind a mailbox or hydrant. Bagged or boxed leaves aren't picked up.
Holiday weeks
Columbus Day, Monday, October 12, pushes village trash and recycling and Perinton yard debris a day late. Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, does the same in the village and for town yard debris. In Thanksgiving week, the village moves Thursday trash to Wednesday and Thursday recycling to Friday. Private haulers set their own holiday schedules.
Electronics
Perinton takes electronics by appointment through October, then pauses from November through April. Household hazardous waste goes to the Monroe County Ecopark, by appointment.
