Village of Fairport, NY trash and recycling days
Ongoing service
This affects the Village of Fairport.
What this means
In the Village of Fairport, NY, trash and recycling go out on the same day, set by where you live: west of Main Street it is Monday north of Parce Avenue, Wednesday between Parce Avenue and West Church Street, and Tuesday south of West Church Street; east of Main Street it is Monday north of East Church Street and Thursday south of it. Holidays can move it a day.
Your pickup day depends on your side of Main Street and which cross street you live past. Village crews take trash and Waste Management takes recycling on the same day. This is the village service only; outside the village, Perinton households hire a private hauler (Perinton trash and recycling).
Pickup days in the village
West of Main Street: Monday north of Parce Avenue; Wednesday between Parce Avenue and West Church Street; Tuesday south of West Church Street.
East of Main Street: Monday north of East Church Street (on both sides of High Street); Thursday south of East Church Street.
Businesses: commercial trash and recycling go on Friday.
Holiday weeks
In 2026, residential pickup runs one day late in the weeks of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, and in the week after the Fourth of July. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day 2027 have their own changes, listed as dated events. The village posts each year's schedule as a PDF in January; call the Department of Public Works at (585) 223-9500 with questions.
Recycling
Residential recycling is provided by Waste Management under a town-village contract; accepted items include plastics #1-7, paper, cans, glass and bundled cardboard, but not plastic grocery bags. Recycling questions go to Waste Management (585-254-3500). Blue bins are at the Public Works building, 22 Water Street; call 585-421-3119 to arrange a pickup.
Bulk and yard waste
Bulk waste goes out every week from April through November, and as weather allows from December through March. Piles can be no bigger than 4 feet high, 4 feet wide and 8 feet long; contractor debris is never collected.
