Evenings out: live music and trivia

Want a night out without driving into the city? Iron Smoke Distillery has the busiest calendar, with two free shows in October and a free monthly trivia night. Mulconry's, on the canal, has bands on three Friday and Saturday nights in October and one Wednesday in November, and the Eagle Vale ballroom does ticketed shows. Lineups change and many venues don't post a cover or an age policy, so check with the venue before you go.

• Tuesday, October 6, 6:30 to 9:30 pm: Haley Kait, acoustic covers. Free.

• Saturday, October 10, 3:30 to 6:30 pm: The Petty Project, a Tom Petty tribute matinee. $5.

• Thursday, October 15, 7:30 to 10:30 pm: Chad Hollister and Primo, original songs. Free.

• Tuesday, October 20, 7 to 9:30 pm: music trivia on your phone, solo or in teams. It's monthly, and it's the only trivia night in this guide. Free.

• Friday, October 23, 8:30 to 11:30 pm: Songbirds, a Fleetwood Mac tribute with a Halloween theme. $10.

Community evenings

• Saturday, October 17, 7 to 9 pm: a caller leads a square dance at Perinton Presbyterian Church. All ages, and no experience needed.

• Wednesday, October 21, 7:30 pm: the Perinton Concert Band plays An American Road Trip at the Minerva DeLand School Auditorium. Free; donations appreciated.
