# Village of Fairport, NY winter parking ban and snow rules

From November 1 through April 1, cars can't be parked on village streets between 3 and 7 am. When you shovel or plow, keep the snow on your own property: not on a neighbor's lot, the sidewalk or the street, and keep nearby hydrants clear. Ask your plow contractor to do the same.

Village sidewalk plows clear snow all winter, so don't block the public sidewalks. Keeping the walk clear in front of your home and mailbox helps the mail carrier.

This is the village rule. The town's ban for its streets runs from 2 to 7 am over the same dates ([Perinton winter overnight parking ban](perinton-winter-parking.md)). Neither government says whether the town rule also reaches village streets, so moving your car by 2 am covers both. The village doesn't say whether cars are ticketed or towed, or whether the municipal lots are exempt; questions go to DPW at 585-223-9500.

The rules are on the village's [snow removal page](https://www.village.fairport.ny.us/departments/public_works1/snow_removal1.php).
