# Moving? Ask Fairport Electric for a final reading

If Fairport Electric serves your home, send its [moving and final-reading request](https://www.village.fairport.ny.us/departments/electric_department/moving_and_final_reading_request.php) no more than one week before you move. The form asks for the current account holder, the account number and a forwarding address for the final bill. If your new address is also on Fairport Electric and the account needs to be in your name, submit a residential application for service too.

Fairport Electric is owned by the village and serves customers in the village and parts of Perinton, so check its [service area map](https://fmcvof.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8bfc000f0b4a4c5caa83ec996be2bdd1) for your new address.
