# New York State Canal Corporation

Before a ride or walk on the Canalway Trail, check its [trail alerts](https://www.canals.ny.gov/Trails/Canalway-Trail-Alerts) for closures and detours. The alerts cover the trail segments the Canal Corporation operates; segments owned by others have their own alerts.
